FCC Announces Settlement of Five Lifeline Investigations
The FCC released a statement announcing that it has settled investigations of five providers that received improper payments from the FCC’s lifeline program. The FCC entered into consent decrees for each company at different settlement amounts ranging from $55,000 to $1,025,000 (Cintex, Easy Wireless, Global Connection, i-wireless, and Telrite), which resolve the Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeitures issued to the companies. All of the companies have agreed to make additional payments to the U.S. Treasury and to implement compliance plans to ensure future adherence to the program rules as part of the settlement.
